First ever posting of pics - wildlife (geckoes)
G'day forum members,
This is my first ever posting of pics. As some of you may have read, I have been a 35mm user for 8 years or so and recently tried out a D70. Here are a couple of pics from the shoot. There has been no Photoshop used except capture sharpening (I have a version where one of the catchlights in the eye has been removed in image 2.) Image 1 - Barking gecko

I'm still using an SB29 but am considering the new system to compliment my D200 as well. Won't be for a while, though, until more funds are available........ Cheers Michael

Great capture with the tongue in #2! It seems to be the night for barking geckos, I posted a pic a little while ago before I saw yours!

Hey Michael -great shots
I actually prefer the first one - I love shallow DOF shots of geckos - brings the focus onto the had and those beautiful eyes, but keeps the rest of the animal intact, to give a size of scale and overall symmetry.

Both pics were taken a few minutes apart and I tried to get a different feel with each. In pic no.2 I tried to show the amazing pattern of the eye and as I was about to shoot, he poked his tongue out. With shot no.2, the idea was to show whole gecko but have his head in focus (so it looked like he was peering out of picture). Thanks for feedback Cheers Michael
Good use of DOF in first image. The first time I came across geckoes was in Bali in the mid seventies. Wonder what the heck the loud noise was!
