It's a great shot... and a great expression. Looks like he's hiding his hand at a poker match...
![]() cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
my domesticated cat often does that pose, but a lion doing it?
this is somethign i have not seen before, it's mind boggling and great this deserves to be published somewhere
Lion said"I have something to tell you all"
![]() funny posture ![]() Great shot Nikon D70s + Nikkor AF 28-105D+ AFS 70-300 VR + AF 50 f/1.8 D + Tokina 12-24 f/4 + DX 10.5 Fisheye+SB800
This is the most impressive and expressive lion pic I have ever seen - you certainly worked your magic with this shot Sheila

Sheila, that has to be the most beautiful Lion pic I have ever seen, EVER..
What was it shot with? EDIT" The more I look at it it kinder seems 3D, he seems to be coming out of the picture ![]() ![]() Thanks MATT
Thanks for the comments. It was taken with my old Canon D60 with the Canon 300 f/4 L IS. Here's another shot which I call "Where's Daniel when you need him"
![]() Its not as sharp as I would like but I love his expression. It was taken through some rather grubby glass. If you go to the zoo, take some window cleaner and a cloth with you. Cheers Sheila Sheila Smart

Great pair of shots, even if the second isn't as sharp. As Chris said very expressive and helps personify (humanise) the lion to the viewer.
I actually prefer this shot. As good as the other one is, it seems to me to be a tad oversharpned, but the pose in this second one is simply sublime. It's as if he thinks he's caught an insect, and when he's checking to see his catch, it's gone! As to the window cleaner, I'd suggest caution, as you might be mistaken for a terrorist. Imagine trying to shoot the animals through clean glass. As if ! ![]() As to your logging on issue, please clear your cache and cookies, and see if that makes a difference. g.

Cheers ....bp....
Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing
I think the first image is the nicest yet presented of a zoo lion.
great detail, nice expression. etc etc Steve check out my image gallery @

see.. i was right... the second shot proves he has a hidden hand at a poker match
![]() nice. cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Sheila
A great capture of this captive subject ![]() Unlike Gary, my preference is for the first one because of it's near human pose. Peter

The second shot indicates to me the absolute sadness of an incarcerated animal. The look on this beautiful animals face is as if he is remembering the days when he roamed through the African landscape - free

Here's another shot (please excuse the instrusive copyright as its before I knew what I was doing
![]() ![]() There is always going to be a debate about caged animals but I think Jambo has known nothing else. He is well fed, has a mate and has sired a couple of cubs. In his wild state, he would have to fight other males to protect his mate and near the end of his life, he would be wandering on his own and possibly starving to death as he would have been usurped by younger and stronger males. Taronga Zoo has come a long way in the past few years to make their animals more comfortable and less stressed. Gone are the awful concrete cages for the orangs (courtesy of Macca - well they have got to do something good!) and they are working on new surroundings for the birds I believe. They are great shots of this magnificent creature Sheila, the first one is my favourite. Excellent.
On the logging in thing - you will be logged out after a certain period of inactivity. Not sure how long exactly - between 1 and 2 hours I think. Could that be the problem? cheers Greg - - - - D200 etc

It is only about five minutes between leaving the site and returning. Even going between threads, I have to log in again. It happens both at home and at work so I don't think its a problem with my PC. Cheers Sheila Sheila Smart

I could look at the first shot for ages.
Love the sharpeness, the three dimensionality, the emotion in the eyes. Print it, frame it, love it.
Sheila, Rob,
Please PM myself or Leigh regarding your logging in issues. Please let us know your OS and browser as well. g.
