Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Hi Nito, it was quite windy and I didnt have time to set up the tripod. So, being hand held, I was after speed rather than DOF. :D Even at 1/500s the other shots of the flowers on at the roadside went in the bin due to movement.

Nice attempt Mark, however for me, the DOF is way too small....sorry.

I guess considering the wind, and using Shutter Priority, it was either this or no shot at all

Perhaps next time you could try boosting the ISO level (if you didn't already), to try and get a more beneficial aperture ?

Sorry but I have to agree the DOF is just TOO shallow. Even if the antenna and eyes had been sharp it would have been  OK

Sorry Mark - have to agree. Doesn't do anything for me, having so little in focus to explore.
Not up to your usual standard.

Thanks for the feed back guys. I keep forgeting to alter the ISO in situations where speed and aperture are required. That would have produced a better shot. Ah well, next time :D

It's all a learning exercise isn't it mate? :)
I look back on so many "could have been" shots and think "if only I'd ..."
Much fun has been had along the way though.

Love the new avatar.

Thanks Simon, been meaning to change it for a while given my obsession

One of the good things about this forum is the advice and from that the learning process. I guarantee the next time I am thinking of sacrificing DOF for speed I will be thinking about the ISO. :D

Hey slider....I don't mind the shot.....since getting my 50mm 1.4 I am a shallow DOF junkie!!!!!!!! :)

Don't think I have taken the aperture above 2 yet.

I think maybe the green is perhaps oversatureted though.
