self portrait (unintentional.)

nope, this isnt me (I am butt ugly but dont look like a frog), but if you look at the image you will see that I have captured an unintentional self portrait.

I havent seen a frog around here for years, but last night whilst taking out the garbage, I see one so I thought I would try for a few shots.

I ran inside and got the gear, and had the sb800 with lspj in the left hand and the cam in the right.
My aim was to vary a few settings and see the effects of the flash and lspj (on the end of sc-28 ) being placed at different positions.
unfortunately after 3 shots he took off. didnt know frogs could go that fast so I dont know where he went

unfortunately none of the 3 shots was any good but I havent posted for a while and am happy to have seen a frog.

I was going to ask what sort of frog it is.
It also had what appeared to be ticks on it. Is this a possibility??
would have thought that ticks wouldnt like to go swimming, or perhaps this guy doesnt get to the water very often, although he looked pretty wet to me.

I thought for sure someone would comment about the self portrait though

I thought you were suggesting I look like a frog!!
I really only posted the frog because of the self portraits being shot but everyone is commenting on the frog and not my portrait

If the frog was a good shot, I would probably clone me out.

interesting reason why lights typically make nicer portraits than flash:

If ambient light is down, our pupils dilate and the flash captures that.
If there are lights, our pupils are small, generally producing more pleasing eyes.

I think the eye of this guy could have been magic in more light.

Steve if I am not mistaken you were using a lightsphere. It can be seen in the frogs eye?

oneputt: yep lightsphere II PJ, the reflection gives the game away. thats why I called it a self portrait
