Hi All
I have been shooting all week at events without a flash since i broke my sb800
it got me thinking about thinking about how to best utilize the available light, it was refreshing to get back to basics
Me and my friend were walking back via george street and i shot these all in available light
Shot with the 28-70 f2.8 at f2.8 ISO 800 1/50 colour balance variable
Got my firend to stand right next to a iluminated billboard sign, he has a bit of a george clooney look, white balance at 4500Kelvin
white balance at 6500Kelvin in PP increased levels highlight and darkened shadow tones
4500Kelvin In PP increased levels highlight and darkened shadow tones, curves increased cyan curve in the shadow tones
auto white balance
4500Kelvin In PP increased levels highlight and darkened shadow tones
why rent an expensive studio+setup when you can just search the city for free lightboxes and interesting illuminated backgrounds

Nice shots, Wendell! Particularly like how the last one turned out. Even more impressive that it was utilising available light! Or perhaps more accurately, "borrowed" light

thankyou
glen, willy, piro, des and alpha
Piro i wanted to use the fluros in the toilet but taking a picture of a guy with a big ass camera in a publc toilet with alot of kooky riff raff coming and going at 11:00pm at night in the city is just silly
so i just used the light from a street newstand
available light is good at ISO 800

Heh that toilet idea sounds like the same level of Craig's "porno" self portraits Sorry Craig, couldn't resist.
I have to convert the pics I took over the past few nights, but went down to see the "games" crowd to do some night PJ pics. Will put them up later.

No worries, I was actually thinking if you brough along a big dude to act as a bouncer, then public toilets could be a excellent urban photo shoot location. Flyblown mirrors, dirt, grime, graffitti.
I'm questins if I should post any of my self portraits from last night now, seems I'm gaining an unsavoury reputation

I think you two are taking up Birddy's idea of a centrefold. Try Riccardo's model agency

when all else fails... improvise! nice work
and I'd say Billy Zane look a like more than clooney...
D4, D700, plus glass from 14mm to 200mm Gaffa Tape is like the FORCE... it has a Light side, a Dark side and it holds the universe together
