Colours of Barrington Tops

Hi,

a couple more from Barrington Tops. These two were taken with the 50mm/1.4. With the available light, it worked really nicely. However, I'm not sure which one works best, the landscape or portrait version.

C&C more then welcome,

André

I like both of these, but prefer the 2nd. Interestingly, I have just uploaded for C & C some VERY similar images. These two images show the beauty of the 50/1.4

I like the idea but a little more DOF would have made this work better.

Thanks Peter and Liam,

looking at them now, probably could have used a bit more DOF, to at least have that little gum nut in better focus. I'll have to remember for next time.

The 50/1.4 does work well, that's at f2, so getting pretty sharp when wide open.

I'll just have to go back and try it again :D :D and I will, maybe in the winter with some frost on the ground.

Thanks,

André

I too prefer the 2nd, but the centered gumnut puts me off a little. I'd have been tempted to (re)move it, or recompose a little to the right to balance the leaves a little. But then I prefer asymmetric photos...

It was great meeting up with you over the weekend Andre.

I actually prefer this shot in portrait format over the landscape.

André,

#2 for me. I prefer the DOF and landscape orientation. It draws the eye in nicely to the subject without too many distractions.

The colour is spot on :)
