Bird of a ............had a play around the house with a Bird of Paradise in our back yard. After minor surgery and black cardboard and a different perspective this is what I have..........

Beautiful Paul,
they are an amazing flower to photograph and you have done great here. My only comment would be on the second one to have just a little bit of black extra on the left, so that the flower doesn't touch the frame. Very nicely composed. What lens did you use? Paul, again you match your standard that we've come to expect of you
![]() Fantastic images. Well composed with good lighting.
Excellent work and great angles. The bird of paradise has got to be one of the most interesting flowers to photograph. Its sometimes difficult to get the whole darn thing in the frame! An interesting thing to note that its one of the most Googled image-searched flowers - if my stat counter info on my PBase site is correct!

Thanks Steve! I have to say I love these as a subject also ![]()
I agree about the black on number 2, too bad I didn't have the space when I shot ![]()
Thanks Daniel ![]() ![]() ![]()
No arguement here Sheila ![]() ![]()
Wow, the black background makes the color in these stunning flowers really jump out!
As already mentioned, would have liked a smidge more room on the left in #2, that one being the pick for me... The lighting seems really nice and diffused in #2 and #3, whereas #1 seems to have hotspots? Stunning flower... Aka Andrew
