Crop sprayer that sprays for the local mosi population.. often comes in close to my backyard... so grabbed the 70-200 and grabbed a couple of shots.. working on a montage of shots where it goes up and turns around in flight

Good grief!

One only hopes that the chemicals they used were trialled on animals before they commenced spraying them near houses!

Nice pic though. Seems a bit dark on my monitor.

It's always handy to have the camera laying about :D

Pic is dark, at the time of taking the pics it was semi going to piss down with rain and just thinking about it.. thats why some of the montage pics have blue tinge to them

Well done Tim,

it's not easy to get that motion blur in the blades, but looks like you have no problem with that :-)

The montage is very nice, sell it to the spraying company, they'll want it on their office wall.

Cheers,

André

Cheers for the comments... first time ive attempted chopper photos..

No idea who does the spraying, all i know is its paid for by the local council to eradicate mosi's.. im 90 meters from the river so they spray all through the mangroves and over the tree farm and the lake nearby

Tim, if you ask, they might even tell you what chemicals they are spraying. We have had a full-time mozzie program happening here in TC for the last couple of years targeting the species of mosquitoe that carries Denghi (sp?) Fever. No aerial spraying because the budget was something like $1.5m for the duration, but plenty of chlorine solution has been used, and charcoal pellets that contain a hormone to inhibit wing growth. The pellets are supposed to be harmless, but we were dubious and would not allow them in our gutters which are used for collecting rainwater. They were even dropping the stuff in the dogs water buckets, until we put a stop to that.

Cheers

Great shots Tim - I'm sure they'd be very interested in the shots - the montage would be a fantastic sell !!!!

Great shots Tim. I see them doing the area just north of the airport and near Boondall Wetlands quite often. Very acro/aerobatic and fantastic to watch especially as you're zooming along the Gateway at 100k
