Wedding Shots

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Nice - like them very much!

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

#1 and #5 are my pics...stunning. #4 is also great but the bottom of the dress is chopped of...:(

I think number 1 would be greatly improved if that cloud and the dust bunny directly below it were cloned out. The lighting is superb and the placement of them with the sun behind has really made for a striking image. Click reply and have a look at this image at a tighter crop in more of a pan-o-ram format. Maybe have a go at that?
Personly I dont like portraits shot from below looking back up so number 4 dosen't do it for me. But that is actually a pet hate from day dot that I have always disliked.

Number 1 is a definate winner though

Thanks guys. Keep the critical comments coming.

Regarding the PP, there is very little done to these. We show images at the reception, so download all 16GB of images, pick a handful, convert from RAW, resize and unsharp mask. As you can imagine, there is not time to look at any images in detail. Therefore no real sharpening or colour correction is applied.

If someone has 25GB free somewhere, I'd upload a RAW image for you all to play with....

First and third are stunning alright, they're all good. (They did take a long time to load on my DSL - might need to chop down file size next time??)

IMHO, the standard of wedding photos posted on this site is rising all the time, these are wonderful. What a great photo site is DSLRusers!

I really do like number 1. The backlighting and use of fill flash is excellent.

The others are good shots as well. The only problem I have is with number 4, it makes the couple look as though they are 6'6" tall and appears a little odd to me.

However that's just my take, I'm sure others have differing thoughts and opinions..... :D

G'day

They are all great captures, you should be pleased.

I think the DOF is beautifully controlled in #3.

I might need to recalibrate my monitors though, #1 and #4 seem oversaturated with colour, or maybe it's just my washed out mood today.
