Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. Well quite a few shots later and i still cant get the webpage to reflect properly.
Followered the trend with the b&w. deleted the red channel before turning to b&w really brought out the pores. Although they look better(worse for me) on the larger pic. 3 years to the four zero, so i cant complain. ![]() Simon
www.colberne.com.au I purchased a Teddy Bear this morning for the sum of $10. I named him Mohammed. This afternoon I sold him on E-Bay for $30. My question is, "Have I made a prophet?"
I don't know, they both look funny. And the one on my left (that's your right, of course) is my left side. If I print it and fold it so that the middle part disappears the original shot should appear. Cheers Steffen.
sounds like the back of a mad comic, u sure a message won't appear? Simon

Some very clever takes on SPs here.
Shane, I loved the black and white version of your photo when you originally posted it - not that the colour one is bad ![]() Aussie Dave, intended or not, I think it would look better with the eyes in focus rather than the nose, but an interesting portrait. Suzanne Canon EOS 350D Tamron 18-200mm
Just what do you think you're doing Dave?
Hi everyone, first post here from me. I'm Macka's better half (), I've been lurking here long enough through her account so I decided to register. Imagine my surprise when the name rooboy is gone (how many other weirdos could call themselves that on the internet?) So I run a quick search through the few hundred mesages in my inbox, and lo and behold, I registered last year and couldn't even remember it!
Anyway, on with the photo. I know that it's oversharpened, I was going for a slightly noisy look. ![]()
Welcome Rooboy and congrats on your first post. This is a good image too though I'm not sure you've acheived the noisy look you said you wanted. Still, it's a great SP.
Now, don't just sit back and let Macka take all the good photos in your neck of the woods - we're looking forward to plenty from you too. ![]() Simon

Wow - great SP. Interesting seeing a SP from someone you know. It really shows a good, serious expression that you don't see so often in social situations. Welcome to rooboy

Awesome use of light Heath. Clearly the standout of the lot so far for me.

Although I gotta admitt, sometimes it makes for a good laugh ![]()

Very impressive Rel. I so rarely see you without your glasses on and your hair down.
One thing's for sure, without your glasses on, I look a helluva whole lot better!! This is a really lovely pose and great capture but is just a tad hot on your forehead and left cheek. Can you tweak it a little and still save the mood? Simon

here you go....... basic 2 flash heads, defused, and a reflector, with a vignette from photoshop. front light and hair light
It is not easy taking pix's of ones self, as you cannot see any faults...... What i would have changed...... main light a little higher hair light back a little and to the left to kick on the left cheek head turned into the main light a little more straighten the shirt Moved the reflector a little closer Heavy retouch job...... this is not an invitation to play get a better subject........ ![]() Last edited by big pix on Sun Apr 16, 2006 2:12 pm, edited 1 time in total.

here is the set-up.......... The shadows on the background are from the house lights I turned on for this shot
main light on left of screen with black reflector to stop light spilling onto background as I am working in a tight area, stool for subject, hair light with a creative defuser, there is a light down low but was over kill in such a small area and not used, reflector, but a piece of white card would have done the same job, as SB800 or SB600 used the same way as the studio units. The advantage of using studio flash heads, they have a modelling lights so you can see where your shadows are very quickly, but a bit tricky when shooting ones self ![]() Cheers ....bp....

This has been a quite interesting thread looking at the take we each have of ourselves. The most recent trio from the Queensland collective are all great and all so very different. Rel - I love the feel of this with you looking into all that black space, Simon - while I really like this I think you put WAY too much vaseline on the lens

When you've got a mug like mine, Peter, gaussian blur is your best friend. I was actually trying to see how satirically close I could get it to Macka's recent POTW but there's a limit to what can be achieved in about 30 minutes from concept to post. Her skin is just a TAD softer than my old pelt so the blur was a definite necessity! ![]() ![]() Last edited by Manta on Sun Apr 16, 2006 7:54 pm, edited 1 time in total.

thanks Simon and peter.......... back in the days of real photography the vignette would have been done with lights or flash heads and finished off in the darkroom if shooting colour neg or black and white, but when shooting transparency it had to be all done in camera.........
