Curtis Island Part 2 - First Attempt at Underwater PhotosDoug loaned me his EWA Bag for taking fishing photos when the conditions didnt get friendly.. but i knew it'd handle underwater too.. so i did the $2500 dip with the d70, kit lens and sb800 fitted and dived down upto 2 meters with the camera and took a few photos of the baitfish shoals around where we camped that were being smashed by Trevally, Bream, Queenfish, Blue Salmon.. and quite a few sharks... unfortunately i scared the sharks off... because they wouldnt come close enough to me for photos

I vote that Tim gets the D70 bravery award !
Only person I've heard of dunking his D70 into water intentionally... You are much braver that I that is for certain. The results look interesting, out of these I like 3,4,5 & 7. They have great colour and really hammer home that the camera is underwater. I notice that the turbidity of the water was quite high, which gives them a sureal appearance. How did you go looking down the view finder underwater ? /M. - "There... I've said my bit !"

There was about 4 meters tidal difference between high and low tide.. ... I was taking these during the runout tide and my camp site was only 200 meters from the creek mouth.. and it was ripping through in the main channel.. i didnt get to look down the view finder under water.... most of the time id either dive down and blind shoot.. or push the camera under water.. aim it where i thought the fish would be and click away..... seemed to work for most pics..

Lol... can it be a bit of both??
I wasnt too worried about the sharks.. they only 4ft bronze whalers.. and they would need a few of them to have a good chew on me.. I forgot to mention the stonefish.... we got 3 on lures around the same mangroves i was talking photos of fish in.. and stupid me is swimming around with bare feet..... ![]() ![]() ![]() Tim p.s. Camera is insured.. if it gets wet.. yay for me... new d70 lol well.. im hoping.. if it did stuff up... i did make sure nothing was going to leak.. all seemed to be good as gold D70 - D200/MBD200 Coming soon - Too Much Gear, Not Enough Talent

Thanks for testing out the bag for me Tim I can use it now
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I love the second shot but they are all good the D70 does become very point and shoot underwater one of the benefits of digital over film. I originally bought the bag for the F100 but it was very hit or miss and a nuisance to keep changing the film every 36 shots. Sharks would not be a problem, stonefish and barefeet YIKES!!!!! that makes my feet itch just thinking about it.
