What can I say. This one, thankfully, lacks the canvas treatment that I didn't like in your other two recent posts (owls & lily), but this image is not of your usual standard. Compositionally it's a little cramped and it just lacks overall punch. I think the bloody thing should have looked at the camera and then you may have had a keeper. Sorry for being so harsh, but I know you can take it. Peter

You have no idea how much I love this image! It is one in a million! The composition and all other pictorial elements are perfect....to my eye. But it's perfectly OK that you have a different POW and I am more than happy to consider your feelings. I enjoy trying to make sense of the way we all react differently to images. But this image is going on my wall in a gold frame. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Matt. K on Mon Apr 24, 2006 8:33 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Not sure why, but the owl looks like it's pretending to be a penguin

The owl reminds me of a Muppet, it also interests me Matt the vastly different reactions we have to certain images. I can see why you like this shot, but I can also see why Stubbsy would not. For me the eyes make this shot.
Very beautiful b ird, i like this image a lot minus the strange blurring in the left but, i love the bird and its eyes!

Matt,
It looked so sad for being locked in the cage. A poster size print will be good for the means of human right!. Birddog114

That is the weirdest looking bird I think I've ever seen. I reckon he put his little brother's head on by mistake this morning...

Matt,
This majestic bird is the Powerful Owl and they are found in the forest only a 10+ minute drive from where I live. In fact, Samford is known as "The home of the Powerful Owl". These delightful birds shouldn't be caged in small aviaries - its a crime, really. I've had the pleasure of seeing them in the wild at night and they are just magnificent. Cheers Michael

Thanks for that information. I entirely agree with you...in fact I have just made an A3 print of the image and it is both sad and beautiful. To see one in the wild would be quite an experience. Regards
