Ricoh FSLR, off-camera flash 1/125 @ F5.6 I am aware that the border looks silly, good scanning skills (from my dad) haven't come into practice yet. Scanned from a framed picture through glass.Image

I was about to say you've really nailed the effect of making a digital print look like film then i realised it was film.

I like it, I think it has character.

actually one small nitpick is the little light spot on the far left next to the border kind of distracting but thats all I could find.
Are we there yet?

I like it, the lighting the pose, the little flare is a little distracting but I don't think it ruins the shot.

Nice shot, it definitely has a lot of character. The lens flare on the LHS is a bit distracting but could be removed without too much work. My only real criticism is the shadow of the glasses frame acroos the bright side of her face, but it's not a huge drama, as the eyes are clear & strong.

She bears an incredible resemblance Macka's (my better half) grandmother - any Serbian ancestry?
So join in the chorus, and sing it one and all!

I like it too, Jennifer - heaps of character and an almost imperceptible Mona Lisa-esque smile. Despite the obvious shortcomings of the scanning process, it's come up pretty good.

I don't mind the flare - it seems to balance the compostion for me somehow.

Another nice example of your developing portrait skills. :)

thank you every one for your comments. i left the lens flare in the picture because, as simon said, it balances it out for me somehow.

simon, it's interesting that you are the only male so far to have not minded the flare in the photo. from the people i've shown mostly women like the flare and men don't. puzzling.

Ill agree with Simon... I like the lighting.. and the flare.. gives it a touch of character... probably because its not a full blown highlight its.. just a nice spot..

Good shot

Yep, nice portrait, and as rooboy says she looks just like my mother in law (Macka's grandma). :D

Don't tell me I'm becoming a sensitive new-age guy. Good Lord!
