Kerry, street performerThis is Kerry, one of the street performers at Circular Quay. She, and her little dog, Ashley, can often be found sitting on the ground near the ferry terminals. I often chat to her but, at her own admission, she is sliding down that slippery slope of addiction - both alcohol and drugs. But her little dogs still sits on her lap, knowing that she is loved by her mistress.

Sheila - both great photos, but I adore the one of the dog... something about it tugs at my heart strings.

Typically brilliant studies Sheila.
The lighting on little Ashley is absolutely beautiful. Shame about the cap and metal thing on the left - it's a great shot as it is but would have been better if it was just Ashley amongst the crowd. Cropping it would have lost the front of the first foot which would have detracted greatly from the effect. Simon

I have since cloned out the cap and the bars but when I submitted it to the Spider Awards, I left it "as is" because it was a submission in photojournalism category (which won a nomination) as I felt that it should not be Photoshopped in any way. Cheers Sheila Sheila Smart

Excellent pics sheila! You have used the light beautifully. The first image is confronting....the subject offers herself up to your scrutiny and she does it with dignity.
