Water Droplets Macro -- First attemptWell, it was long that I touched macros, I went into my kitchen to originally shoot some fruits and veggies, but then turned myself into water droplets.
Before figuring out how to post images here, I'll maybe just post the link to the images. http://yiph.zenfolio.com/p269137388/ Took me 2 hours, shot countless pictures, only 49 came out merely 'okay'... They were shot with a poor man's macro, that is... BR2A with a 50mm reversed. No focusing distance and/or metering or viewfinder view (stopped down is dark)... So you may imagine how cool is to guess a focus point...
I have never tried reversing a 50mm but you have some nice crisp images here. Well done considering the dfficulties with focus, etc.
I cant figure out how to link images from your website either. It is different to mine. Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

Very very cool

Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
Thanks all,
If you ever want to know how to focus on this, try mounting a close focus lens or any lens you have, select manual focus, set to closet focus, aperture set to f/16 and press down on DOF-Preview, you will pretty much know how to focus (without turning your lens on focus ring). And working distance is 5cm from lens to the drop as I may say...
Re: Water Droplets Macro -- First attempt
That's some neat trick. What's the secret? ![]() Seriously though, there's some very nice photos there. Well done. Andrew
Re: Water Droplets Macro -- First attemptBeautiful images, love the colours.
I have a reversal ring and you did great, it isn't easy to use.
For putting images in your post, the link to the image needs to end with ".jpg". It's one way for the forums to help with security of links. So as long as zenfolio can give you a direct link to the image, you will be okay and use the [img] tag cheers, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Re: Water Droplets Macro -- First attempt
Have a camera that can shoot at high speeds, and plenty of patience plus a hell of a math head to get the terminal velocity speed to hit the shutter... ![]()
Maths doesnt sound too good, but the shots are definately worthwhile. This is the kind of thing that you can do anytime in the kitchen with the quest for the perfect shot. I reckon you are getting close but another couple of hours...

Re: Water Droplets Macro -- First attempt
I still fail to see how that would turn you into a water droplet ![]() Andrew
Re: Water Droplets Macro -- First attempt
LoL... Its all about physics in thermodynamics... When molecules get hit by high temperature on heavy impact and then..... I just forgot the equation again.... ![]() One simplier word, sqeeeeeezzzeeeeee some sweat... ![]()
Impressive pics!
How did you have the flash set up? Off camera? I tried these sort of splash pics a while ago but had trouble with the flash reflections on the drops.
checked out the gallery.
