I was all over the place, was lucky enough to get a pass for the event, I was the one in the red jacket on the fence line that had the Falcon head straight at me when it went onto the grass at the start of the straight on Sunday afternoon, pity it was too close to get a pic of, and I was another one of the Canon guys you were refering to ![]() Heres a few more from the weekend, whaddya think? ![]() ![]() ![]()
was it the FerraRi 15000 km in vietnam jacket?
iam surprised they let you on track wearing that, they weren't very nice about giving out media passes out this round.where you shooting for anyone in particular? ![]() i ducked out right after this pic the loose stones and dirt wasn't nice. esp last year when somone got hit very close to the eye. Nope, I was the one that spoke to you briefly along the straight, wearing the Jack Daniels Racing hat, remember now?
I know the guy you are refering to, a few guys were wondering if he was supposed to be out there, I had the fashionable flouro yellow vest on aswell ![]()
oh yeah, with a bit of a goaty right? there were heaps of photographers in fluro, 20d 70-200IS sorry i didn't get to chat with you a bit longer. i meet you at da last year as well right? theres a da event at queensland raceway dug, it might be hard to get a event pass for this those. Any of you guys CAMS accredited?
I ask, because I am going to apply (I know it's near impossible) but you have to be CAMS accred to photograph V8 Supercars. Just curious. ![]() 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Nup, still not that one, I was out at the marshalls post on the Saturday while you were talking to Shane (20d/ 70-200)....I was the guy who spoke to you just before they brought the Drift Australia guys out on track for the introductions with the 300D and the 100-400
I dont have any media or CAMS accreditation, but I guess you have to have goals,I just supply websites with any shots they may want but it would be good to gain access to that level of accreditation. I was speaking to one of the photographers at Clipsal and he mentioned that it is a hard task to gain CAMS accreditation
no iam not, i haven't bothered to apply as most raceways i shoot at ain't controlled by cams. there was ONE cams adcredited person there though.
generally you go thru the event organisers for media passes. iam pretty sure being cams adcredited isn't going to guarantee access. Life's pretty straight without drifting

Its a pain in the ass because to photograph the Bathurst Races for the local Council (a major sponsor) I need to get media access BUT to get media access I need to be CAMS accredited, to be CAMS accredited I need to photograph motor sport, like the V8's.....
it seems to be a bit of a conundrum. ![]() Oh well, I've asked for an exemption given who I will be working for. If I get it, good, if not, I'll battle on. Thanks for the answers. Last edited by Raskill on Wed May 31, 2006 10:57 pm, edited 1 time in total.

maybe you should tell them this or just shoot from the stands. iam sure they can work things out for, do they really want track action pics?. or you could get the concil too pull sponsorship. Life's pretty straight without drifting

wayne boatright is one name you should seek for access. but your up against so of the best names in QLD out on track. Life's pretty straight without drifting

If I don't get access, I'll just have to buy a paddock pass, which is better than nothing. But to get trackside (away from 50,000 other spectators), or inside the track (at marshall points) will be impossible.
Your right in what you say, Council really don't want a million race shots, more to do with the 'hype' surrounding the race (spectators, promos, people, celebs etc), but I figure I 'need' the access anyway. I figure the old saying of 'if you don't ask, you don't get' is on the money. ![]() 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc
