RIP Spirit of Tas III

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

In view of today's announcement, I thought it appropriate to post this image that was captured during a recent harbour sailing trip...

That's a good news!
I didn't see any economical by paying its fares to the Tasman.
Cost more than the trip for my family fly to Thailand 7 days, including return airfares, accomodation.
And wasted of taxpayer funds.
Let it sink!

I agree... sort of... While I sentimentally like the idea of being able to take my own car to Tasmania...
In practice, I probably wouldn't bother and would probably fly down and hire a car instead... At least I'd be driving around in a clean car for a while...

I thought about taking it to travel to Tasmania, but the fares are fit for the QEII! No surprise at the lack of customers...

Driving down to Mel. and take the Tasman I or II is cheaper than using the Tasman III from Sydney to Tasmania.

Yes, flying over and hire a car is more economical.

Or swim accross the Tasman and save heaps

But please tell me: what and where's Tasmania?

It's that place that takes 5 days for an express post article from Sydney to get to. Has lots of cold nights, great beer, not too many people and a place where you can occassionaly find a rare treasure in a camera shop

Bugger it. :x I was booked to go to Tassie from Sydney on the 5th September and they cancel the service a week before my trip. Now I'll have to drive to Melbourne and cross there at only slightly less than the Sydney fare.

When you take into account 2 days driving towing a van at todays fuel prices plus accom and having to find your way onto the dock in Melbourne at 6pm then anything they wanted to charge from Sydney was a good price.

And I would rather go to Tassie any day than Thailand at any price :D
