Handles superbly and is much faster than than my D70s. I find the colours and WB are more accurate - no blown reds/pinks etc and the resolution is fantastic - I highly recommend getting one

First happy snaps from D200Taken at lunch today, 1 hour after getting it (had to wait impatiently for the battery to charge)

I'm gonna be honest and say that the resized web versions of your photos don't seem to be any better than the camera you had previously. However I'm sure it is the full sized images where it shines.
The third image has red clouds... ? Is that a result of pp'ing or is that how the camera caught them? Enjoy your new toy mate ![]()
Beautiful stuff Barrie, but I think its more to do with the photog not the camera as you have delivered great pics with the whole family of D50, 70 and now 200

Interesting shots that certainly show both the ability of the photographer and the camera. Love the chair shot

Nah Matt, aready tried a D2X - not much above what this can do imagewise. It was just too heavy to carry on a day-to-day basis and the pricetag was huge for no real benefit (for me) above the D200 I did consider it ![]()
Fantastic shots.
You won`t look back with the D200. The handling characteristics of this camera are fantastic. Termy,

Great images. I can echo you sentiments. First few pictures out of the new D200 was a joyous resolution explosion. But of course - it is just a camera afterall. D300, D200, (D70 - now with daughter) and heaps of Nikon stuff.

As mentioned before, the photographer has more to do with the quality of the shots. Your posts with your previous cameras were very good as well. Still, enjoy your new toy, and let us see more of your work.
Cheers, Gerard
#4 is my pick, the contrasts of textures, vibrant colour vs near-mono and (IMO) strong composition works well.
#1 also has something going for it, tho' I'd be inclined to remove the (?) barcode, and maybe darken the image down a fair bit. Overall the image gives me a sense of loss/abandonment and I'd play towards that. (Or maybe I should see a shrink ![]()
I've seen something like that in real-life, tho' I wouldn't expect it around Melbourne. In central Oz you get large expanses of red earth, the clouds reflect that colour and look pink. Something of a pain to fix in PP... Keith
Welcome to the club and great shots on all accounts.
You know at first I wasn't all resolution crazy, but I'm really quite fond of the extra rez now. Cropping loses nothing in terms of resolution, and the bigger prints look really really good. I'm totally in love.
