Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

I took these this morning with the 30D. It was nice to be out on my own for a while, very tranquil.
Anyway, enough birding for me for a bit. I don't take a lot of bird shots, I'm usually chasing babies or at the football.
I hope you like them.

Hi Murray - I think the forum is lucky to have some tallented guys playing "dueling ospreys" right now.

Some more stunners in this lot. You have the bird at eye level a few times and you are making that camera sing.

Great stuff.

some nice shots here murray, wonderfully sharp and all but the light is quite harsh on a few of these. I am guessing that you shot these late morning.
The whites are starting to get fairly hot because of it.

The earlier morning shots look much sweeter light wise.

also, this post has 7 images in it. there are guidelines suggesting limiting the number of images in posts to around 2-3 as this forum is for critique etc rather than a photo gallery.
the recommended method is to post a few images for comment and perhaps provide a link to the gallery where the rest of the images reside.

this will avoid the ire of the mods.

Fair call Steve. I'll limit future shots to no more than a couple. You're right on the harsh light. It's always tricky and best to be avoided.

Murray, I'd love to see #1 done a little larger. I think the small file size has made it look a little harsh. Love the color in #7

Agreed Big Pix. I thought #1 had a higer shutter speed but #5 is much faster and looks better.

Thanks for your comments and feedback guys.
I agree with Dave that I may have compromised image quality by shrinking the file size too much for posting. I think in future I will only post two or three pictures of slightly larger file size. When viewed on my home monitor the pictures are still acceptable, but looking at them on my cheap work monitor they were not very impressive.

fantastic shots Murray but I won't even try to add to the comments on technique already addressed here. My only concern is that I hope the relevant authorities have been alerted to the obvious genetic damage that seems to be proliferating amongst the wild osprey population, as evidenced by your last two photos.

Great shots Murray, well worth the wait on a dial-up connection.

I'm with Michael, #7 is a stunning capture.

Thanks guys. I'm sorry for posting so many photo's. I'll be more considerate of people on dial-up and keep my posts much smaller in future.

Some really great flight studies there! Congratulations!

The only thing I can possibly add, tone down the sharpening a wee bit, it tends to show.

Cheers
Steffen.
