sc29 testing

Took the sc29 out for a whirl yesterday and I must say it's one helluva useful accessory to my kit!

All shots were taken with the flash off camera and shutter speed of around 1/500.

The flash was set to TTL.









Plan on using it for portraits soon...just have to find some willing people

Nice stuff Wayne! I've been very tempted to get hold of one of those.
These shots all have a lovely natural light to them.

The last one, in particular, is a real winner though, perhaps just a tad crowded on the right hand side.

I agree with Simon on the last shot - very nicely executed. Must get my SC29 out as I have not used it for ages and your shots have given me inspiration

Excellent work. I managed to pick up an SC29 before they disappeared too, and very impressed with it.

i like the first one as it shows more directed light
which is what the sc-29 provides


as an image the 4th one is best but i fail to see how the sc-29 assisted
the lighting lcould almost be mistaken as front on even with no assistance of flash

anyway wayne enjoy the sheer freedom of wild flash acrobatics with the sc-29

Lovely lighting. #1 in particular does show well the benefits of the SC-29. I have 2 x SC-17 cords that I use regularly.

thanks for the comments guys. with the last pic, i held the flash behind me at 10 o'clock. I have a few other pics of the same dandelion seed but the lighting was a bit more harsher.

I quite like the first pic and struggled with the cropping to emphasise on the orange contrasting against the green. Not quite sure if I've hit the nail on the head yet, so to speak.

You can place the flash in places where the preflash might not reach (therefore not triggering the flash), and it also means you don't have to have the preflashes which as Wendell has mentioned can annoy/iriate models etc

The other benefit of the SC-29 over say the SC-28 is that it has the Focus assist on the hotshoe (so therefore actually pointing where you going to be focusing on).

PLUS if you use extra slave studio lights, then the preflash of the iTTL system can set them off and then they wont be charged for your actual shot. I never managed to get my mits on an SC29 and most of the ebay items I have seen are trashed or in the UK with postage being quoted as worth more than the cost of the SC29.
