Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Just wanted to share a short story with you all.

I was out yesterday with JordanP taking photos at the beach. We had a great time and he was kind enough to allow me to borrow his 70-200vr to have a play with :D (thanks again Craig). I'll post some shots later from the session as that's not really the story.

Later in the day I logged on to check email and there was an email from a group called Schmap. Apparently they found the photo below on flickr and liked it. They have shortlisted it for publication in their upcoming August edition of the Brisbane directory they are putting together. Considering that it was the 4th or 5th Image that I had taken with my 70-300g and about the 300th or so image I have taken since having a Dslr I am chuffed. :D :D :D :D

Sure they don't intend to pay me but I will get credit and a link to the large image on my Flickr page and if my image is selected I guess that I can say I have been published.

I only wish that I knew then what I have since learned about photography as I think I would have produced a far better image. Never mind.

The moral of the story being, you never know what is going to happen next, so get out there and enjoy yourself.

After having a go with Craig's 70-200vr on the weekend I have a serious case of lens lust. So my KTM is up for sale and a 80-400VR is on the way into my bag. In fact I intend to blow the whole lot on camera gear. :D Trading one toy for another.

At least I won't break both thumbs taking pictures.
