Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

The first week with the D200 proved a little daunting. So much extra stuff to play with and so many more ways to really stuff things.
Yesterday was the first chance to shoot in anything other than the last vestiges of daylight. Lunchtime saw me stalking the lakeside with the 50mm 1.8
The rules for the day. Fast capture. After a few minutes harrassing the pigeons, I came up with this. Running at the little winged rodents to make them fly, tracking them and framing them isn't the easiest with such a short lens.
Right next to the rock wall of the lake also makes life interesting. This was the photo of the shoot, made worthwhile by the extra megapixels. Cropping certainly made the difference.
 People put way too much rubbish in signature blocks.

Great shot & quite different from most bird pix. Lovely feeling of flying with the pigeon.

I have never seen the humble pigeon look so good.  Can you post the uncropped shot?

Ditto craig's comment. An unusual but totally effective perspective Whiz. Just got my D200 yesterday afternoon and have just pulled it out to charge battery etc. Can't wait to have a play. Your image has urged me to get a hurry on.

The only way to be a good photographer is to think a lot, take a lot of photos........... and then only show the good ones.
I had to crop it significantly tighter then anything that I have cropped before. Only decided to do it because of how crisp the eye looked when I checked it with the camera display. People put way too much rubbish in signature blocks.

Thanks Bob, but it wasn't anywhere near framed like that when I pushed the shutter release.
I have good reflexes, but that would be superhuman. (Or I'd need a very placid pigeon...) People put way too much rubbish in signature blocks.
