B&W to Color, One end of the spectrum to the otherJust a couple of shots from around Sydney last week
one suits B&W and the other is best viewed in all its color ![]() ![]() C&C welcome
Firsty,
That 1st image is a corker ! Sellable, Different, Moody & unique. POTW if I had my way. Maybe a tad lighter but not too much to spoil it. Mic. ![]()
Keith - these are both exceptionally good. If I had to choose I'd go with the lighthouse since it's more uncommon an image.

Keith,
also love the first one. As some of the others, I would like it just a tad lighter, but not too much. Second is a beautiful panorama, guess you had to be up early for that one. Perfect time of day to get this without ferrys. Well done, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Ansel Adams
(misc Nikon stuff)
thanks for the comments guys
the lighthouse was taken as a throw away test shot to see what sort of composition I could get with my 12-24 and not get the surrounding buildings in the shot. the shot was taken at midday on an overcast day with a flat sky I have a B&W competition coming up so thats why I had a play with the shot I will go back a few times this week to try and get a good moody/drama filled sky as I like this but think I could get a much better photo and the original shot was taken outside the time frame for the competition. the final shot will use some of the things you have noted like slightly lighter but with a little more contrast (blacker blacks and whiter whites) the second shot was taken a 5.45am (had to get up at 3.30 to get there) it was also for a competition (long exposure) that is being voted on a the moment and it seems to be scoring well but I don't think it will ribbon.
I really really like that second shot. Just the colors and the composition are excellent. Id love to see the full res version of that shot.
There has been a few shots of the opera house that i have liked, but i spose you easterners are just so used to seeing it. MattyO

i like both images but number 2 is my pick,'i never tire of looking at the colours of that view.
cheers pa
