Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Coral macro
Newbie, go easy on me!
  Here is a macro shot of some Coral at Flinders reef, North Morton. Lots of crap in the water that day, but I liked the green against the brown... Doug PS. Let me know if it is too large/small/whatever. PPS. Given that people host these off site, is there a rule of thumb for how long you leave them up??? Hi Doug, very nice
 Our general rule is 800 pixels in the longest dimension, this is close enough. We have that so people on dial up and with small monitors get the full experince. We generally just leave the images up.

Yes, it has been a challenge! Trying to deal with the swell (surge) and trying to get a focus lock can be real tough. I am a scuba instructor, so I take not touching the sea life very seriously, which makes focusing very hit and miss with a swell running. This day the surge was moving me back and forth by about half a metre. I have a Canon 20D in an ikelite underwater housing with a DS125 UW strobe, all rated to 60 metres. That one was taken with my Tamron SP AF 90 mm f/2.8 Di 1:1 Macro (love that lens!). I have a bit of a blog here: http://www.stetner.org/blog/ and some links to some other shots there. Most you can either click on the see larger or 'open in new window' to see larger (IE the pic with the housing). As for the avitar, I found that guy on christmas day and snuck a few shots off before the wife caught me ignoring the relatives! Would have liked to get more of him....
Off to dive the Ex-HMAS Brisbane this sunday if the weather is OK, I am thinking I will use my 10-22 with the dome port as it can be close quarters inside the wreck. Doug
