Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Some quickie portraits
Gf was all dolled up to go to Robbie Williams concert the other night so took the opportunity to capture her in her war paint. She was running late (as usual
 ) so only had a couple of minutes to rip off a few shots. Only had the 18-55 with me but it doesn't do too bad a job.
Pp'd mainly to get rid of poor background and to give them a bit more snap. C & C welcome as always. 
Glammed up a bit.

John - I think #1 is the winner here. Maybe just back off a tad on the flash? Nice work though. What did she think of them? I wonder what Robbie thought??

Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
Nice work! I tend to agree with Geoff....dial in a touch of minus for the flash. Don't over-sharpen. Try a touch of soft diffusion....make a copy in Photoshop (CONTROL + J) GO TO filters/other/highpass....dial in enough to make the image look metallic. Go to image adjustments and INVERT the copy....go to layers and change the blending mode to OVERLAY or SOFT LIGHT. Change opacity to suit. This gives skin tones a nice glow if you did it right. Sometimes just a touch will make all the difference.

Thanks for your suggestions, Geoff & Matt.
I've reworked #1 along those lines, backed off the exposure 1/3 stop and played with the highpass filter (never played with that one before) and this is the result which I like a lot. 
She's very happy with them Geoff. Seems I can do no wrong sometimes  , but I know better  .JED
