Gorgeous!!!
I think I'll give up all hopes of macro photography, it will never be as good as the work you produce!! ![]() ![]() ![]()
Craig,
Think of this as something you should aspire to. But yes, Rel certainly sets a high standard. Rel, Do you use some sort of knockout juice on the bugs to get them to pose for you? ![]() g.

Insect whisperer - I kind of like that
![]() Thanks for the comments guys - and Craig, don't you DARE give up macro - I just get lucky sometimes ![]() As for the set up - 105mm 2.8 Nikon, SB800 on board (GN setting @ 2.2metres) with cap - seems to give nice even light (even though pretty bright), but ensures no nasty shadows behind, handheld. f22, 1/250 @ iso 200 on the D70. The shot was taken at 7.30pm on a very rainy night (Monday), so the fly was at rest on the plant - and not easily disturbed. If you can find insects at night at rest, makes life a hell of a lot easier ![]() ..... that and bribery ![]() Hugs Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams

Rel,
Out of interest, what approximate working distance did this require using the 105mm. I would have thought that something like a 150mm would have been needed to capture flighty critters like these. Photography is not a crime, but perhaps my abuse of artistic license is?
Hey Rel
Did he tell you to buzz off? ![]() ![]() ![]() Cool shot btw. Do use the flash in manual mode. I cheat and use auto, could be what I am doing wrong. ![]() Craig Craig
