Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Hi everyone. I was wondering if someone could give me some pointers on ways that this shot could have been improved. I like it, however feel the boats in the background are a bit distracting.

Cheers,
Owen.

Hi Owen - I agree that the boats are a little distracting, but I find the navigation sign between the tree branches more so. See what you can do about that.
As for the boats, it would be a fair amount of work to get rid of them, and I don't see them as that much of a distraction. Sometimes you just have to go with what you're given - it's a nice image either way :)

Howdy Owen
I like this shot but i think sheepie is right. The boats are a littls distracting. I feel if you could blend a set of 3-5 bracketted shota you would be able to accommodate the distractions of the blown highlights in the boats and the sign without taking them back too much because i think that part of the strength of the image is the highlights in the boats. It could make a difference in thre overall image :)
cheers

Interesting points guys. I completely missed the navigation sign so thanks for pointing it out. I'm planning on re-taking this at some point so thanks very much for the comments.
