Mucking around with unconventional filters.
now one taken with my new filter. 
Both shots are pretty much straight from the camera other than a slight increase in exposure in ACR (0.2, from memory) for the filtered one. This is a really in-expensive filter that everyone would have access too. Its..... It's ....... it's ........ it's ........ "Dusty Flyscreen" I would however recommend a UV filter between it and your lens just to keep the dust off the glass.  Mark

nice effect. it sounds ver similar to what my father in law has done. He bought a cheapy uv filter. took out the glass and glued in a piece of stocking so that it is nice and tight. gives it a soft focus effect.

Thanks Andre. Highly underrated - I agree. Would probably cost $90 if it was made by Cokin.
Poompy - I have been thinking of doing excactly the same as your Father-in-law only fly-screen instead of stocking. Given the idea, I might just experiment a little more. Stockings come in different colours don't they?  Mark
