Cricket through a fisheye

It's been a very busy weekend for me, with a walk around the harbour on Saturday, then the picnic and then cricket - the first time in the 10 years I've been here that I actually made it to a cricket game!

This one's almost straight out of the box - it's had a bit of defish applied by DXo, and a few other global tweaks. When I get the time, I'll put some effort into PPing this properly. But as it is, I am really happy :)

Nice one Leon!

Looks very similar to the view from my Swans season tickets, except these look to be maybe halfway up? Ours are second last row. Perfect spot because you can't see the lights :)

I got a shot like that, except not quite as wide, with my Tokina 12-24. Of course I was quite a few metres further back, so it just goes to show how wide the 10.5 is!!

The sun setting at the SCG is one of my favourite things (due to our pollution, we DO get some beautiful sunsets ;) )

Awesome shot, Leon. The sunset capture really adds to the overall image.

At least the Black Caps put up a bit of a show (apart from dropped catches and poor fielding!)

Beautiful shot there Leon,

that fisheye is great for shots like these.

Not sure who won that game

You're kidding, right? :D

Great pic, Leon. It captures the mood nicely.

It's probably difficult to tell with this lens, but is the image slightly tilted, or is it just the perspective you had in relation to the field?

The light towers certainly seem to be vertical, but I keep getting the feeling that the RHS of the oval is higher than the LHS.

Anyway, certainly a well-taken shot.

Nice pic. Some PPI'ng should bring out the colours a bit more. Maybe some more saturation to make the colours pop?

Also, down the left side is a thin black line, that gets wider towards the top. Did you rotate the image? I would be tempted to crop it out.

I was watching this game on TV and when the sunset was happening couldn't help but think what a great photo it would make.

Well done!

I was actually in the last row - took a quick walk down to get that one. This is the view I had, which (as you say) was great as there was no glare from the lights, and (more importantly on a 40degree day) was well out of the sun :)

Looks great Leon! It's a fine balance though, I reckon teh 2nd last row is perfect because you're out of the weather, you can't see the lights, but you can see the whole scoreboard. Though if you were further around than our seats, that might not have been an issue.

Leon

You have to be pleased with an image like that and it shows the versatility of THAT lens. I think it's slightly tilted down to the left too.

Great shot Leon, definitely a different view of our beloved SCG... BTW, Kerry O'Keeffe gave his top 3 world cricket grounds today on ABC radio. Lord's, SCG and Adelaide, in that order I think. Can't really argue there... :)

That is one great shot Leon. I like the bright green turf contrasted with the subtle blues and pinks in the sky plus the splashes of colour in the crowd.
Cheers
