The last shot got me thinking about aperture and bright lights ... is it true that a smaller aperture (eg f/22) makes the suns rays look more star-like and less like a big white blob?

Hey you've probably got air conditioning - but no, I'd definately rather be on hols in Noosa though.
absolutely no air con, unless we sit in the car.
On that first pic, it was a really unattractive picture in colour. I've always had a bit of a hunch that shooting for colour and shooting for b/w would be vastly different, so I was happy that this photo was saved by pulling back the Saturation ... I guess what I'm trying to say is that perhaps what makes a good photo for colour isn't necessarily the best photo for b/w and vice versa.
