They are both great shots, but in the second i find the ground a little distracting. Maybe a slight crop would help.

What white balance setting did you use on these Adame? They look very blue! The tail is made of dust and shines by reflected sunlight, so should be yellow/white in colour. That will be modified on the lower parts where you are looking through more atmosphere- which will make the coma (head of the comet) appear more reddish- just like the sky near the horizon at sunset.

Wow, with all those comet shots posted recently (and in the dim light of my own feeble attempts) I wonder whether the fabulously large tail is a product of the comet getting closer to the sun, or simply the result of using long exposures with a tracking mount?

Cheers
Steffen.

Both! + changing geometry. The tail is there and can be seen with the naked eye, the eye is very sensitive, so it takes a short time exposure to show it all with a camera. The comet is actually moving away from the sun now, and has been for the past week.

If you check the EXIF data for your images the white balance should be included. If it was on auto it may have turned the images very blue because of the yellow foregrounds.

Ok i have a couple more....To get the look i wanted i had to adjust the color temp to 4000K, i think the color has been lost in the coma because of the long exposure that it required to expose the sky its burnt the color out of the coma....

my only suggestion would be to have the comet to the left of the frame and let the tail trail across the centre and right.
At the moment it feel unbalanced with clear sky filling the left of the frame.
