Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I think Matty is referring to your (ab)use of capitals in the subject header.
A small housekeeping issue here, if I may.
Some may think it cool to use caps as you have, or to use ur instead of your or you're, m8 instead of mate, etc.
Within this forum though - and this is actually in the FAQ - we do expect our members to communicate in English, or at least something that very closely resembles it. Within that context, I think it's fair to say that we'll accept - tolerate even - the odd, isolated incidence of this, but on the whole, some of the more pedantic amongst us will get a tad upset if it happens too frequently.
Besides, the English language, as it is, is so rich, and full of ways that you can mess with people's mind without needing to resort to this sort of allegedly cool .... whatever it is ... I struggle to understand why one would even bother.
So please take this in the spirit that it's offerred - a friendly nudge, and nothing more than that.

Might wanna try some Noise Ninja on that image to help reduce the noise.
Regardless, it's a nice try. The colours are nice but the image composition is lacking.
And I'm not entirely sure why you find it necessary to wRiTE LIke A laMEr WaNNabE hACkeR, but you might wanna try not doing it as it makes you look a bit childish.
Still, nice try with the image.

thanks guys, i wasnt really going for a great image here, i just wanted to capture the event as such lol.. I was standing at the on-ramp to the freeway so by no means a good spot and the lighting was terrible... this weekend i might try to get out of town and get sum shots in a easier situation!
ease up eh i'm just having sum fun, thanks Gary for quietly expressing a point.
As for being a hacker...i have had my day and learnt it was wrong...this was in the day of 486-166mhz
it was a means of capturing attention as with sum of our images we try to do..u replied so it worked and u also commented on my pic, noise ninja, which i have just d/l'd and am playing with right now...thanks

may i ask, when in a situation like this (night low light) how do u focus on a subject such as the comet? as in AF mode my lens just kept hunting and couldnt focus and in MF mode i couldnt see a thing through the view finder and just had to guess on the focus by comparing it to the foreground!

Likely set it to infinity since it technically is there.

Do you really think so? Consider that many will do something similar, in that we may name a thread in a slightly misleading manner - perhaps using a pun based upon the subject matter - to achieve the same goal, and we have no problems with that.
The difference that I see is that the use of an imaginative title may come across as humorous, and as such will usually work.
By way of contrast, I suspect that many members here will look at the way you have entitled the thread and actively avoid it, because it comes across in a whole different light. For many, I suspect that it acts as a turn-off, and as evidence of that, I would respectfully make the observation that so far in this thread there has been just the one comment on the image, and it's been almost two full days since you started the thread.
So you say that one person has commented and thus your strategy has worked; my observation would be that because of your strategy, just one person has commented on the image, and thus it might appear to have failed.
...
Now, some members get a little peeved that their images don't attract the comments that the OP might like to see, or perhaps the number of comments that the OP would like to have seen. Unfortuantely, there's nothing we can do to force people to comment on your images, save to say that if a member sees some qualities in an image that moves them to post, they will. We need to learn and accept that that's how it will be.
