Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Apologies to anybody hoping for a reference to Joe Cocker (edit: or Ray Charles
 ) .... 
Some friends of ours have just had some new arrivals on their land, some baby Clydesdales. I decided to go over and take some photos before coming back to uni. The one pictured is about 4 months old. I would have loved this photo without the fence, but it didn't present itself, thus I decided to try and create a more dark feeling in the image. 
Comments, Critiques, Criticism all welcome!

Joe Cocker ??? Ray Charles, please! Oh yes ... Great fun image, but why does the lh side look to be softer in its contrast range than the rh side? g.

Unfortunately, I don't have a wider crop. This was shot @ 70mm using the 70-200 f4 lens. The moment presented itself, and i didn't have time to move back. Gary - Apologies for not recognizing the original - thanks for picking that one up - I know for next time now.
The only reason that I can think for the contrast variance is the vignette that I added. It is much more noticeable on the RHS as the original colours were more contrasty. Would this make sense? Tristan Canon User

No worries on the Ray vs Joe stuff; they're both very good versions. On the vignetting ... perhaps. Could you please post the original, and also tell us how you handled the conversion. Thanx. g.

The PS process is really nothing fancy - I just used the quick n easy saturation reduction, and added a vignette using Photoshop's Lens Correction features. Tristan Canon User

Very cute. I like the B&W conversion on this - I think it has really improved the shot. I don't mind the fence being present in it either. I think it gives the 'different side of the tracks' feel.
