A tiny taste of Europe

I have just come back from a 12 Day Contiki Tour of Europe where I vistited 8 cities. These are a tiny taster of what I saw. I'll post up a few more a bit later.







Any comments or critisism would be greatly appreciated

The first one is awesome and is my pick.
I love it the black and whit, the way the lights blend together, it has something a little extra.

#2 Doesn't do that much for me.. I think it lacks a main focal point, am I looking at the street, the people, the light.. nothing stands out, so it lacks impact for me.

#3 Shame you missing their feet, but I like this one, I'm not sure if a different crop my bring this one a little more oomph.. but I like the... so where are we, and where do we want to go.... the background also adds interest with its bright bold colours.

Please post more, and any information on what you liked and what you didn't over there (particularly anything to do with the UK or France... our trip is June/July, so I'm still "datamining")

I like #1 and #2, but like Craig, the missing feet in #3 bugs me.

All I can say is learn as much French as possible, they hate it when you can't have a good crack at communicating with them in french before asking them f they speak english (which they ALL do!). Other than that all I can recomend for Paris is to order your coffee at the bar and drink it at the bar as it will cost half as much and don't go to restraunts with big lights or pictures out the front, go to ones in the back alleys, they are the best (the ones that only have menus in french).
In the UK, buy as much as you can from supermarkets, they are dirt cheap and they have great stuff, catch busses not trains, it is so much more interesting to be able to see all of london out the window and to get a grasp of where you are as opposed to being in a dark tunnel and just popping up in your destination.

ON TOPIC: I was so annoyed I missed the feet in #3, oh well. Yeah, I see what you mean with number 2, it is pretty all over the place, thanks for the comments Craig and Bloop.

did you catch venice carnivale?
if you just got back you must of got a snippet of it
it went on for 10 days just before lent
there were carnivale type celebrations going on last week all over europe

i was in venice for carnivale 2 weeks ago it was amazing

I have regularly holidayed as well as worked in the UK, France, Belgium and The Netherlands. This is probably the best advice a seasoned traveller could give you .....

"When in France, make sure an Aussie flag or better yet a Kangaroo / Qantas image is readily visible on you and your luggage."

There is a huge difference in the treatment by many French between how they treat English or Americans compared to other "races". Even in the UK you will get treated better if they know you are an Aussie.

Be an Aussie, be proud of it, make it clear. It WILL make a big difference to the enjoyment you get on your holiday.

Another tip for Paris. Dress as well as you possibly can. You will get treated a lot better if you don't look like a tourist. I have been to Paris twice once as a tourist (shorts, t-shirts and joggers) and once on business (casual business attire). As a tourist the locals treated me like shite. On the business trip I was treated with respect.

I really dig the first one cause I'm just a sucker for the atmosphere and movement evident and also like the last one cause of the contrast with the subject and the bright grafitti background

I don't mind the second one cause of the gorgeous warm lighting and the movement depicted

12 days only? i did european panorama 28 days back in 2000 by 12 days wew where just getting in to it did it feel to short?

It was definatley too short, i'm going to do another one, this time it will be a nice long one (6 weeks+). Still loved it though.

I completley agree with both of you there, the French can be the nicest people in the world or the nastiest, you just have to know how to bring out their good side.
