Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

The challenge this month is RED any type of pic including red as the main colour - no prizes - just a challenge.
PP manipulation is welcomed.
Go forth and shoot

Exercise in Style...
It's been a bit dead the last few months. But the idea is to take a picture within the ES topic, post it here, and the first person to post something relevent gets to pick next month's theme. The only rule is that you must have taken the photo during the month of the exercise.
Cheers

The RED can be the full pic, part of, indicative of etc. You could also make this an exercise in duotone or black and white manipulation:wink:

Excellent that this has been re-started. I'll admit I got a bit lazy near the end of last year, but as my New Years Resolutions include a requirement to get more into photography I definitely want to have an entry into each of these.

Chicky Babe (one of the kids pets) is a great egg layer and of legendary size with a very healthy RED comb.

My favourite cook pot...
Not the best image, I know, but I am learning
This is a continuation of my learning curve with photographing reflective objects. I have improved my lighting set up, and my technique considerably. I still need to control my backgrounds, and fine tune my exposure. In this case I simply did a rough & ready blank of the background, & didn't worry about the blown highlights, small as they are. I'll get back to those pesky bottles shortly.

That’s a very traditional looking clay tagine Mr Darcy - do you cook?

Yes I do cook., but its not a traditional clay tagine. It is a French take on the Moroccan original. The base is cast iron & the top is glazed earthenware. I have an genuine traditional too, but I prefer to use the french one as it stands up to stove top use far better. Besides, its not red
The clay base on the original is better on a charcoal fire than a gas or electric stove (though I have seen them so used). The original does a slightly better job though, if you go to the trouble of pre-soaking it, and using a charcoal fire.
I use it for Tagines (of course!), curries, and increasingly for European style casseroles.
The mistake most people make is to use it in the oven. Used like that, it is no better than any casserole dish. On the stove top, as intended, the upper part stays (relatively) cool so the evaporated moisture re-condenses & drips back into the dish, resulting in a moister and tenderer (???) meal.
Edit: In Canberra, I live in student digs. I bring a wok, a tagine & a French cooks knife. These allow me to do about 90% of my cooking. (Ever seen pasta cooked in a wok?)
