At work again...

So took the opportunity to take a few shots.. tried a few things, so please let me know what you think of the first 3 shots (all of the same scene).

And I've thrown in a Amp Tower for good measure.

Okay...

the first two look a little soft and flat cause of the pp..

the third one 'pops'...really like the pp on that version...

and just as well that you threw in the tower cause it rocks!

Thanks Bindii, I'll let a few more people comment before I reveal my different PPs for the shot, but I'm glad you like them.. The view is fantastic and I'm luck to work somewhere so photogenic.

I was most impressed by the AMP tower shot it was taken with the 18-200 VR, as were all tonights shots, and at 100% I can see people at the resturants.

Hey Alpha,
#1&2 seem to be a bit soft towards the left and right of frme.
#3 is really neat
I like how you have captured the last glow of sunset in all of the first three.
The tower is nice and crisp.

I'm with the others - #3 is the standout - the contrast in it is spot on, with the blacks being quite black the reflections on both the water and the buildings which makes the details appear that little bit sharper.

Centrepoint tower is pretty good too

Wow, thanks for the feedback.

Let me know explain the first two shots are using CS2 to do a HDR merge of a number of shots.. both at the end of the process I chose to different finishing methods. One was to adjust the exposure and the other was to reduce the highlights.
The shot that seems to be a winner is #3, which is just a single exposure, but I've worked the curves (I had a phobia almost about playing with curves as I don't understand them well) I thought I'd gone way to hard on this image, and it looked to extreme for me (on my screens) yet it seems to be the crowd favourite. The AMP tower has just been resized, and sharpen with a little tint tweak to make the sky a "nicer" shade.

#3 is definitely the pick because of the punchy colours & contrast. Curves aren't difficult to learn - just drag the cursor across areas of the image which need more contrast (in these images, the sky & buildings), and PS will show you where on the tone curve these areas fall. Steepen the curve in these areas and you'll love the results

As much as I like the "oomph" and punch to number 3 (and I can see why it is a crowd favourite), I think number 1 is the most natural looking.

I like the 1st 2, I think the low contrast gives a nice even color through the shots, I feel quite drawn to it and that is not like me, normally I am a huge constrast lover.
