Just a few shots from the Remakables, Kangaroo Island, SA., taken late last year.
These are my 1st attempts at HDR shots and were processed using the Photomatix program.

Geoff! Dude! Wow, the first three I'd happy have printed Massive and hung on my walls. the 4 is ok, but the first three... I REALLY like.. and would look great in a wilderness calendar... I think I'll have to get this program as I'm not happy with CS2's HDR support/tools.

Wow. They look fantastic. There have been some fantastic shots lately using HDR. I'm surprised its not used more frequently given the results.

Very nice examples of well-done HDR. The reds are a little overcooked for me, particularly in #2 and #4.

Compositionally I like #1 the best. I find the large rock on the RHS of #2 and #3 dominates the frame a bit too much, drawing my eye away from the rest of the image.

Overall I do like the look you have achieved, and I'd print #1 for sure. :)
Cheers,

Geoff,

love the first one, fantastic shot. HDR has its good/bad sides, you are certainly show the good ones.

#3 would be my other preferred one. The last one probably just has a bit missing, you don't really have something to grab you like the other ones.

I'll be there in June, so I've put the Remarkables on my list 8)

thanks for sharing.

#1 is just phenomenal! The cloud formation really draws me into the sky, and the colour contrast is superb.

Thank you for all your comments.
I was very pleased with how they turned out, particularly the 1st. Its been printed A3+ and framed already.

I was quite suprised how easy it was to do using the photomatrix software.

The following were the 3 original files for the 1st image and the final again for comparison.

Simply sensational stuff Geoff! The first 3 are awesome and good on you for printing/framing your good work.

Nice to see you posting again - you seem to have been away/busy for a while.

Absolutley brilliant work geoff, #1 is one of the best uses of HDR I have seen in a long time.
Nikon D80, MB-D80, Nikon 50mm f/1.8, Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8, SB-800, Sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3

#1 is nothing short of spectacular. I'm not normally a fan of HDR but in #1 you've pulled it off - it looks brilliant without the obvious haloing and weirdness associated with heavy PP. Great work :)
So join in the chorus, and sing it one and all!

Those HDR images have great impact Geoff. For anyone interested, there is a free version of Photomatix in the dvd on the cover of PC World, June 2007. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.
