First HDR attempt - Natural Arch
On a trip to SE Qld last weekend for a mountain biking race at Kooralbyn I had a couple of hours spare and decided to re-visit Natural Arch. I last went there over 20 years ago, before all access restrictions were in place, but the dynamic range of the scene on a sunny day was way too much for slide film.
I figured this would be a perfect test for Photomatix, which I had downloaded a couple of months ago, but not yet tried. 
D200 + Sigma 30mm @f/8 and 4 exposures ranging from 1/8 to 1sec. Photos taken with a cloudy sky WB, but I have added a bit more yellow as the sky reflection on some rocks was rather blue. comments and suggestions welcome D70, D200, CP5700
Knowing the spot Gordon I can say that you have done very well. This is better than most HDRs I have seen from the same spot.

Thanks, I was surprised at how easy it was to get a natural looking image, having seen some of the excessively colourful HDR images around.
I think it gives a reasonably good representation of how it appeared to my eye. I was crouched down on the platform with the lens looking through a gap in the fence, whilst hordes of Japanese tourists milled around. I had a quiet chuckle to myself as in the middle of the chatter in Japanese I heard one say "ahhhhhh professional" D70, D200, CP5700
I can picture it now.
Beautiful, looks great and very natural. I know what you mean about the colourful HDR's. Composition is perfect too i think.

yea, it will be hard for anyone to catch him! I found another one the other day too, but it didn't look like a comet at discovery, so its another Comet Siding Spring. Rob later added 6 X 60 sec exposures of it together in very good seeing, and it had a bare minimum of coma visible even then.
Thought I was going to have a clear night tonight as it cleared at sunset, but lots of cloud/fog forming already ;( D70, D200, CP5700
