with a rose thrown in for good measure. very impressed with the quality of this new lens and how well the kenko's work on it. haven;t really gone for DOF here, was more interested in getting it focussing right. sb-600 fired from lower right.

C&C welcome. :)

Two of the best rose photos i've seen on this website. Great work. Good for macros too. Excellent control of DOF.

thanx everyone. i'm really loving this lens. now if only the weather will cooperate on the weekend so i can get some pesky bugs. makes me want an sb800 now to even out my lighting. NAS never ends...

interestingly though the sigma does not AF as accurately on the extreme AF points as the tamron 90mm did. i suspect that may have something to do with the longer focal length. if anyone can explain...

Can I be a party pooper? I think these are excellent images, but wonder if there are too many droplets in #1. Somehow it looks less powerful than say one or two drops might look.

Don't get me wrong though - these are way better than I'd manage

Glad you understand my point. I always agonise over comments like this. It's so easy when all you see is text on the screen to think I'm saying these images are shit when i think they are patently the opposite.

Of course I have no monopoly on being right either. If you ever do what I say the result may be inferior to what's on display here.

Exactly! Thank you Rooz.

Here we have a photog who has made some great images.

And, there has been some constructive criticism which has been accepted in exactly the right way. The purpose of the criticism has been to improve the image, and the shooter has recognised that and responded accordingly.

That is what this site is about.

Let's have more of that, and less "I'm so precious - all I want is for people to tell me how wonderful my pix are!" posts.

Thank you.

Nothin' like a good dose of macro Rooz; and that's what you've given us here. Agree with Stubbsy though about the number of droplets. Less is sometimes more and having perhaps a single drop would not only look more natural but also highlight the fragility of both the bloom and the droplet.

Nice work.
