Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

I've been thinking about different styles lately, particularly photojournalism/photodocumentary.

This is a bit of change from my usual material.

Wooo... I likes that... :)

The vertical line in the galss is distracting though.. but I think the shapes of the people are great!
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but it's still on the list... ;)

Wow, geometry FTW! I really like this one! Straight lines, abstract patterns combined with human shapes. And those bright markings on the tarmac leading to the airplane give it a dreamy dimension. I for one think that vertical line is a crucial element in the composition.

Well done, is all I can say!

Daniel,

Great image and concept, and the mono treatment suits it well.

I'd like to suggest an alternate crop however. Stay with me ... :)

At the top, there are some dark blocks. I'm not sure what they are, but kill most of 'em. Keep just the first row, immediately above the window's top. That's part one. :)

Next, crop the counter from the right. Do this carefully, removing the whole of the distracting elements that are there on the right edge, but no further: you need to keep the plane in the background that is bisected by the split in the window.

Finally, crop the left side of the image, removing the lady, and all of the rest. Use the counter support as the LH edge for this.

Optionally (see how it works) crop the foreground as needed, to perhaps just below the base of the gentleman's stool.

I'd be truly interested to see this version of this image.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Good to cast it out there to see if I'm on the right track :)


I think I'm finally happy with the image result after much umm-ing and argh-ing :D It took over a week of re-PPing (I'm seriously indecisive sometimes!), but I think it's there.
