to O'Reillys and take some pics of birds.. so I packed the car with my camera stuff... threw in the kid and off I went..

I did everything right... charged the camera batteries... fresh batteries in the flash... cleaned and reformatted the cards... polished the lens glass... then I started taking a few pics... Ooops.. I'd forgotten to check the ISO... a quick check showed it was at 400... not ideal but yeah it was overcast so I left it... well I thought I'd left it...

I somehow must have managed to knock the dial I think and everyshot I took after that (this was maybe about 30 shots into my day) was done at 800ISO..... Arghhhhhh.... they are so grainy you could make bread out of them.... Arghhhhhhh...

I give in... a wildlife tog I am not meant to be... *sobs*

anyways here is a couple of what I managed to kinda salvage... I don't think I will be printing them though.... *sighs*

Gawd woman if you managed to nab these at 800ISO by accident, I'd hate to see what you came up with if you were thinking about what you were doing!

Seriously, they are lovely. I am glad ya stuffed up though, that'll teach ya not to go there without me

They're terrific Bindii, my favorites are the Bower birds. O'Reilly's is such a magic spot. You obviously had a great day. :D

Um... take mental note... never listen to Sue complaining.

These are brilliant. I guess they show that Canon does handle high ISO well.

I cant see anything here to complain about.
Down here at the bottom of Sth Aust, (which I might is only 2 small towns and a small row to Antarctica :D) I find it hard to use anything less than ISO 800 during winter. Sunshine... if only there was more of it :)

Sue, these are fabulous, despite the ISO "mistake". The Lewin's is a beautiful shot all round and the detail in the Rosella is stunning. Those Regent Bowerbirds are hard to expose correctly but you've done a terrific job. Well done.

Amazing- all of them. Are these crops or FF?

I'd like to see a little more environment from the eastern yellow robin, i love the way they hang off the trunk, unlike most birds who prefer a horizontal perch.

Framing and lighting on the honeyeater is superb.

Ooooh I was wondering what that bird was..it certainly was a fast little bugger...thanks for that...

And no the only image that was cropped is the Eastern Yellow Robin (see now I sound almost like I know what I am talking about...;)).. the rest are as is...

Oh and sorry for posting more than the allocated allowed shots in this post.. I thought that it was five pics not four .... yeah... I'm hopeless...

Ummm... and thanks everyone for the nice comments... I was disappointed though cause trust me on this... the majority of the pics are too grainy to use and if you check the exif data you'll find that I think 2 of these were shot on 400 ISO... before I stuffed the setting... still I am starting to see it as a positive.. now I have the perfect excuse to go back and try again.. :)

Awesome shots!

I'm sure you could print them without probs? Or try noise reduction?
