Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Baguette in the Street

Well it's been a while since I've shared any images, and to be honest I haven't shot a lot of new stuff and I'm still sorting through my Europe shots, so here is one that I've done some pretty extensive work too I'd be keen to get any feed back on it.
I've been hanging out a lot at Redbubble and I definitely feel like some of the artists ideas and style are starting to rub off as my approach to processing has been for want of a better term more agressive and by that I mean the final result doesn't have to necessarily reflect the original image, which up until this stage has been my standard approach to photography and image making.

And here is the general speil, followed by the original.

Paris has to be my favourite city for people watching, there are so many styles, fashions and personalities found on the many streets of Paris, it was a joy to wander around and take it all in. I found this gentleman enjoying a baguette on the sidewalk (pavement or footpath depending on where you are from). Something about him really captured my interested so I fired of a few shots. When I got back, something was missing from the original scene and I wasn’t sure exactly what so I’ve played around extensively with layers to build up the affect you see, some doding and burning, motion blur and playing with the curves and levels. Overall I’m very happy with the end result which I think adds something the original was missing.

My take: less blurring around the subject, like his legs should be sharp IMO. Introduce some vignetting to compliment the blurr.

Take out the blurring - it just looks tacky. To give it more emotion, focus on curve manipulation to give it more contrast, and burn as well. I think you pretty much have it there, except for the blur.

I don't mind the blurring... although I think a little less of it would be better... I lurve the idea behind it all and I do like your edited version...

The crop is right.

The blurring is wrong. Very wrong.

JMHO.

I really like how you've made the lines on his face stand out. I don't know a whole lot but I think the crop would look nice in mono.
