My pups

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

The first would be my pick but it could probably benefit from an increased DOF... as could the rest. Try to get nose, eyes and ears in focus. If I were to compromise the focus of one of those elements it would be the ears... nose leads into eyes...

You have some interesting shots in your FlickR gallery. "Lexi reflecting" is a nice portrait (except that his face is lit from the wrong angle). Beach shots like "Me and My Shadow" hold promise. << This is something that I would pursue further... interesting shots in interesting places.

Cheers

Edit: I should not have posted this in its original form while I was tired, sick and cranky. My apologies to Norbs, my words were unnecessarily harsh.

No offence taken. Annoyance maybe, but offence, nope. Just curious as to why you singled my group of photos out? Day in, day out, I see photos which I would consider not worth the energy to post on the net, let alone a reviews and critiques forum, and yet I don't say so as obviously the poster has thought them worthy of exposure. They, like me maybe looking for reviews and critiques. Had you only posted the last 2 paragraphs, I would have been fine with your post, as they are exactly what I was after.

Seeing as I am a reasonably new forum member, I don't know you, and after having a search, I couldn't find any photos posted by you. So I have no idea what sort of photo you take, therefore, might find interesting. What you find interesting might bore the arse off me. And funnily enough, there may be others who do actually like the photos or have an interest in dogs.

If a photo isn't meant to draw "an emotional response from a memory", I assume you are of the thinking that photography is purely about art. And if thats the case, your photos would certainly bore the arse off me.
