Ahoy folks,
Just a few images from the weekend at Sandown.
I'm trying to show someting more than the motorsports, some of the emotion behind the race also.
Curious to hear opinions as always. The images are resized and VERY low resolution to minimise size for upload.
[1.] 888 Falcon flying through the rear of Sandown
[2.] Craig Lowndes acting up in pit lane
[3.] Victory, always tastes sweeeeeet!
C&C asked for and welcomed.

i'm liking that last shot of craig. something different from the standard podium shot and gives you the feeling that you're next in line to get soaked in champagne. nice one

Great shots Raskill,
I also like the last one as well (something different). I also like the one above it of Craig hamming it up... Shows a lot about the guy.

Thanks folks.
I had to turn away after I took this shot, as I was about to be sprayed by Lowndes. I ended up with champagne all over me, I stunk like a pub!
The sacrifices we make.....!

Well captured Alan!
I can see the second one ending up in an annual / retrospective for the year...

I think #3 does that perfectly. I Really like it. Captures the excitment of wining and the real big kid personality of Craig.

Alan, some comments:
#1: This one is a bit strange for me. Not sure if it's the high contrast or if the panning is slightly off, but it just doesn't gel for me. Obviously still a very useable image though, very dynamic!
#2: Technically great, no worries there, but seems a bit posed perhaps?
#3: Absolute winner. Awesome image, sort of quality you'd see in major publications (in fact probably better). Two thumbs up!
Sorry if the critique is a bit harsh, certainly all three of these images are fine for commercial use (was chatting to Michael_ over the weekend, congrats!).

Nice capture Alan, I especially liked the celebratory shot #3. But damn, that's a really disgusting colour scheme on the Ford...

Cheers folks.
Trent, I post to get harsh critique, best way to learn.
The D2h produces very high contrast images all on it's own, which is good cause I prefer my images that way. The first image was bought by 888 for their office wall, they seemed more impressed with it than me, but thats okay
Craig Lowndes definetly comes across as someone who really enjoys what he does, theres no 'i'm a famous race car driver' attitude there, just a nice bloke. He doesn't seem to mind having a laugh in the pits.
I like number 3 also, only problem was cleaning the champagne off my gear afterwards
Onyx, yes, your right, the 888 car has a shocking paint job. The high intensity orange with chrome silver is really hard to capture. It's a fairly close representation of it though. It's difficult to get the chrome looking shiny, rather than flat grey.
Thanks for all the comments.

Alan, I watched the episode of V8 Extra following this meet, last night, and who should I see but this blonde headed guy waving a D2H around. The things you will do to get on tele. They were showing Loundes throwing the champs around alla #3.
