I saw this before but was a little to busy to comment, I like it. Its well let and well life isn't all about smiles and kisses, so I appreciate you capturing a sad or unhappy moment, some may disagree but I think this moments are just as deserving to be captures as those with laughs and smiles. (Especially at that age).
And I don't even like kids!

here's another i liked from the same series. i think it's pretty funny that you can see the umbrellas in his eyes so i had to clone them out for the final version. don;t get me wrong alpha. i'm not after accolades mate. just after someone who is better at this than me to say, "why don;t you try XXX" or "lighting could be imporved by XXX". its all part of the learning curve. thanks for looking though.

Cute pix, and you have done well with the B&W treatment.
Do you think there is too much space on the RHS of these images? I find #1, in particular, looks a little unbalanced. I think that it is emphasised because the subject's shoulders are closed to the viewer, and probably wouldn't be so obvious if the shoulders were angled the other way. i cropped them both tighter and found that i preferred them offset. but i know alot of people prefer them more centered, especially the 1st one as you suggested. just a matter of personal taste i guess. i also prefer the B&W but my wife prefers the colour versions.
