Prickly stuff - made to look bad
This is an attractive succulent my mother loves very much. To spite her I tried to make this look nasty and uninviting:

The shadows and the way the outer leaves curl in make it look quite carnivorous and rather creepy.
The central part however still appears to have more of the formation of a Rose, albeit with thorns. Hope your Mum likes it  Nikon D700 D300
