Oooh excellent captures... I'm most impressed by the clarity of that lens..

now I have just gotten a new computer and am unsure as to how well the monitor has been profilled so it might be me but they look a little bright on this end.. :)
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but it's still on the list... ;)

Adam,

They do look a tad bright on my calibrated monitor. The sharpness in the first two is great. The third looks a little soft to me - perhaps a bit of camera shake.

These shots really are a good advertisement of that lense and your ability.
I take it you were using a tripod?

over all good pixs........ but I find on my calibrated screen that the first pix the greens are over saturated and a tad light so there is detail in the black bird, and these birds are black, the pelican is also too light as you are starting to loose detail in the white feathers, they are not that white, and the last shot could also be darker as the greens are also off colour.......... but good capture with a beast of a lens that is not easy to hand hold, best on a gimbal head

No mate all shots were taken using a mono pod where i have found that the lens/body combination balances really well.

I shot the cricket with mine on the monopod. It would be madness to try to do otherwise in that instance.

Maybe I just like bright shots, but I like them. The pelican's shoulder is maybe getting a bit hot, but on my calibrated monitor (Dell 2405, yesterday) they look good.

Oh yeah theres no way you could handhold this bugger for long periods, give me an hour at the most on and off hand holding without any converters, the problem with the converters, especially the 2x is it moves all that weight another couple of inches away from you.

Yes that as well, I'm really impressed by the way the lens performs with converters very sharp when you get the technique right.

That's for sure. I was amazed at how well mine went at the cricket with the 2x, despite the snapper :-)

Adam - looks like you have adapted well to the new Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8. Very nice sharp shots.

Virgs was saying the lens is also fast with the Sigma 1.4x and 2x converter on. You would have to be very happy with that.

Let the shooting competition begin :)

Must go back to bed, and get some more sleep.
