Escapee from Adelaide Zoo

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Escapee from Adelaide Zoo

You may have heard that this morning an Orang-utan escaped from her enclosure at the Adelaide Zoo.

I wasn't there for the escape (missed photo opp), but I was there about half an hour earlier to see her planning her getaway. Here's the offender:

These shots are mostly full DX frame using 150mm macro lens.

We were asked to evacuate, so I didn't get many shots today. :(

So, did she follow you home? The third image strongly suggests that this may have been the case. ;)

the eye contact is superb and very intimate. i'm also stunned at the very human like expressions that are rarely captured. best "ape" pics i've ever seen on the board, period. excellent job.

FWIW: the WB looks a bit funny to me but i'm at work on an uncalibrated monitor. kinda yellowy/green ?

Given it's mother's day, I expect she just wanted to go out somewhere nice...

This is certainly the best sequence of Ape shots I've taken. I think this is due to her only being about 1.5m from my lens without any glass/wire interference. It made for a great location. But it turns out she wasn't meant to be there!

It is possible there is a slight yellow/green cast. But I didn't want to go too far the other way because the environment was certainly very green and there is a slight yellow to her hair. I could make her face hair whiter, but I don't think that would work for the rest of the image.

Great capture of the cleaver little girl,
remembering that the male died just a couple of weeks ago she is probably very lonely ...
From the eyes she was making at you I'd say you are more likely to have captured her heart than 'those cat people'

The keepers suggested that on tonight's news. She probably went looking for him.

Great pics of her :) I never got to see her even though I was there two days. She has a lovely expressive face.

Thanks. She is a hard one to capture. When it's a sunny day it's hard to get good detail around the eyes.
