Ansel Adams MinimeetMust be time for another get together, and what better excuse than to catch up with the Ansel Adams exhibition at the Maritime Museum?
Ansel Adams – Photography from the Mountains to the Sea I'm thinking Sunday October 20 - just under 2 weeks away. Maybe lunch somewhere nearby afterwards? g.

Re: Ansel Adams MinimeetI was just about to respond in the affirmative to this and when I informed my wife she pointed out it is our wedding anniversary this weekend and she has plans. I can only hope they will match this! (assuming I am still invited to her plans!)

Re: Ansel Adams MinimeetApologies to all who attended. I Got there early and was hangin about when I got a call from an interstate visitor requiring succour at my place. I popped in for a quick look at the exhibition and left, missing Gary by mere minutes. Damn! The inconvenience of unexpected old acquaintances.
Not sure what others would think of the exhibition but to my eyes they were all very minor works apart from about 2 or 3 larger prints. Many showed their age and if posted on this forum for critic would probably receive nil replies. A few showed that Adams magic and I guess these few made the cost, ($15.00) worthwhile. Also, just being in the same room as a large number of Adam's prints had its own rewards. Would I recommend others to go and see this? Not really. Love to hear the view of others who took the trouble to go. Regards
Matt. K
Re: Ansel Adams MinimeetThanks for the info Matt, I think I will try to wonder in at some point

Re: Ansel Adams Minimeet
Absolutely. What was interesting to me was the notable differences that were evident in his work, pre- and post- zone system. This, of course, is one of Adams' legacies to us, and it's quite evident the effect that it had on his work. For me, there were a few other personal connections as well: when I lived in California, I lived fairly close to Yosemite, and many of the works on display were shot there, and the recognition of the familiar (to me) landmarks helped create a bond to those images. g.

Re: Ansel Adams MinimeetGerry, I am guessing that you have become one with the chaos (Version 1) these days?
Re: Ansel Adams Minimeet
Chaos was sedate compared to some of the horrors I have had to deal with....I am semi-teaching in the morning from about 10am so maybe after midday? Cameron
