My wife and I were holidaying up on the Whitsunday coast a few weeks ago and I have just had time to get to the pics - we had planned to sea kayak for 4 days but winds of 25 knotts detered us, so we chartered a cruiser instead. Wow, what a great experience!! Then a couple of relaxing days on an island resort before heading off to Sydney for the Caves meet.
This may tempt you into taking a holiday or just quiting work all together .....

We had three of these (think they were Giant Trevally) feeding around our boat one night for over 2 hours - Very Big fish!!
The reef, the island & of course the mandatory Gull !!
As this is probably getting too big, so I will start another thred for Part II - only 4 more image I want to share..............

Great pics. I love the seagull. In the other thread I also really like the one of the wife relaxing. Tells a nice story. Great sunset, I don't think I've ever seen such a wonderfully rich deep blue.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It was truley a great holiday to remember.
Mudder, yes I think it was a hairy sea slug of some sort. Interestingly, when I caught it it had the entire hook including the eye in its belly. As I went to get the camera and a few shots it proceeded to regurgitate the hook until it had expelled it entirely... minus the prawn - pretty efficient.
As for the Gull - no chips 'cause we didn't have any on the boat. A little bit of bread kept them hanging around for a few shots though.

Looks like you had a wonderful holiday! The first one reminds me of the Titanic......King of the world!!!
Love the seagul, and the sunset. I have no idea what the 2nd one is, and I hope I never find anything like it  !!

Thanks for sharing your great photos from your holidays. The seagull photo is excellent but it's lacking a bit of oomph in terms of colours...then again it's a seagull

The second picture is some kind of bristle worm. Possibly a fireworm.
Mostle bristle worms have fiber glass like spines that are coated with venom. If you touch them they break off in your skin causing a burning pain for up to several days. The only effective way of removing the spines is with sticky tape.
I have thousands of closely related bristle worms in my reef aquarium. They are excellent as a cleanup crew.
